Medication technicians produce and support the administration of medications to patients. They must record the side effects each patient experiences in detailed summaries. Medication technicians typically work under the guidance of nurses. They are usually hired in assisted living facilities, drug treatment facilities, homecare careers and more.
New and improved 6 hours Med Tech Training Course is designed for unlicensed students to assist patients in Home Care and Assisted Living settings with self-administration of medications. Students will learn to adapt proper handling techniques and be accomplished in studying prescription labels. Our Med Tech course will also teach you how to support medications in Assisted Living Facilities, Home Care, Drug Treatment, and Skilled Nursing Facilities. The class is 6 hours and includes state law and rule requirements, and procedures and performances for supporting with self-administration of medications. The starting med tech training will be of six hours (an increase from the current four). The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) did not expect a grant of an additional two hours, as they believe that 6-hour training is sufficient for all med techs. The yearly update may still be granted at two hours (this is still in discussion), and the starting stage of course must be live in-person.
Med Tech Certification Online in Florida can no longer manage their own medications in an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) and/or Home Health setting; they rely on Med Techs to assist them. These courses provide students with 4 hours of training regarding safe assistance to safely administer medications in an Assisted Living Facility (ALF). Due to the comprehensive, hands-on nature of the field, these programs are typically provided in a hybrid format, which merges online didactic coursework and practical, in-person lab experiences. Students should look for programs that are fully authorized for certification purposes. Some programs would require students to be employed in a medical lab.
